Tourney donates $6,500
to Hitzeman Foundation

Darren Oliver/OCN staff
Bob Loghry, center, chairman of the Hayes Hitzeman Foundation,
presents a check of $6,500 to Kyra (Oliver) Hitzeman and husband,
Ezra, founders of the foundation. The check was made with proceeds
raised from the benefit golf tournament held May 31. The donation
will help fund the research of SIDS.
The Hayes Hitzeman Foundation Benefit Golf Tournament was held
on Saturday, May 31 at White Plains Golf Course.
The first flight first place winning team was made up of Troy
Wilson, Randy Wilson, Greg Hollis, and Gary Phillips.
First flight second place winners were James Johnson, Andy Eldridge,
Tanner Shirley, and Heath Hamilton.
Second flight first place winners were James Fondren, Jeff Roberts,
Brian Hardin, and Jason Wyatt.
Casey Held, David Qualls, and Earl Carwile made up the second place
winning team for the second flight.
The $6,500 in proceeds from the tournament went to the foundation,
a nonprofit organization dedicated to the research and awareness
of SIDS.
The foundation was started last year by Kyra Hitzeman, daughter
of Carson and Vicki Oliver of Livingston, and her husband, Ezra,
after the passing of their son, Oliver Hayes, who died June 11,
2002, at the age of 5 months.
Those who would like to make a donation to the foundation directly
may do so by mailing a check to The Hayes Hitzeman Foundation, 1404
Pump House Drive, Richmond, VA 23221.
Organizers of the benefit plan to make the tournament an annual
event.
