Misty Garrett of Overton County was among the 21 players chosen by the Tennessee Sports Writers Association as members of the TSWA college All- State teams for 2001-2002.

Garrett was named a second-team selection. One of the most versatile point guards in Golden Eaglette history, Garrett teamed with first-team selection Janet Holt to lead the team to four regular season OVC championships.

A starter throughout her four seasons, Garrett finished her career ranked third on the all-time list in assists. As a senior, she contributed 7.1 points, 4.7 rebounds and 6.1 assists per game while shooting 49 percent from the field.

Garrett was also a top 10 finalist for Tennessee Tech NCAA Woman of the Year. Finalists were selected by the TTU Athletic Awards Committee.

In naming Garrett as a finalist, she was described as "one of the most versatile and determined players in Golden Eaglette history."

Teammate Holt was named TTU Woman of the Year. Holt was named OVC Player of the Year for an unprecedented third straight year while being named Verizon Academic All-American and Kodak All-District for the second straight year. She ranked third nationally and first in the OVC with 23.8 points per game, and also ranked first in the OVC with 8.4 rebounds per game. In addition, the do-everything forward averaged 3.2 assists and 1.7 steals per game.

Holt ended her career with six Tech records and seven OVC records. She was selected to participate in the WNBA pre-draft camp after graduating in May. Earlier this year, she was named OVC Female Athlete of the Year for the third consecutive year.
