Senator A.F. "Pat" Officer won the senatorial election in the 10th Senatorial District from Harvey Drapier, of Algood, by a majority of between 300 and 400 votes. He will go to serve his second term in the Senate when the legislature convenes in January.

Mrs. Theodore Roosevelt Sr., who has been embarrassed since the Democratic National Convention by well wishers, who wired their congratulations under the impression that her late husband, Teddy Roosevelt, was still alive and running for President on the Democratic ticket, was hostess to several hundred women in Oyster Bay, NY, on August 10.

Mrs. Pleas Huddleston entertained with a party Saturday afternoon honoring her son Billy’s fifth birthday. Those enjoying the party were Jean and Betty Freeman, Walter and Wanda Ferrill, Billie Little, Betty Jo Spurrier, Jane Coward, Peggy Joyce Lollar, Frank and Bill Dillon, Evelyn Oakley, Geneva and Ola B. Halsell, James Lane Maynard, Sonny Boy Smith, Earl Glen Hodges, Henry Jernigan, Bill Mitchell, Charles Ray Eastland, Maurine and Alice Zachery, Betty Owen, Peggy and Patricia Smith, Houston Holman, Joe and Doak Capps, Harlen Copeland, Jean and Billie Ruth Spurrier, James Edison Rowe, Bennet Blount, Earl Thedford, Ray Beaty, and Aliah Dillon. Mrs. Huddleston was assisted in entertaining by Virginia Thedford and Eunice McGee.

M.H. Hawkins is confined to his room on account of illness.

Lucy Price Miller is visiting Mrs. Will Seat in Nashville.

Joe Teeples, of Algood, is improving.

Attorney C.C. Gore is attending federal court in Cookeville this week.

Udine Qualls has been visiting her uncle, Steve Myers.

J.D. Johnson and Ab Gore, of Hilham, were in Livingston Monday on business.

Mr. and Mrs. Roy Eubanks announce the birth of a baby boy on August 3.

Mrs. M.M. Robert and son, Will Albert, of Donelson, spent Sunday with Mrs. Roberts’ sister, Mrs. E.D. White, and family.

Sid Eldridge was in Oak Hill on business last Thursday.

Lester Garrett, of Cedar Grove, was in Livingston Saturday.
