brothers argue, one is killed Cordell Speck, 23, killed his elder
brother, Alfred, last Friday. He used a shotgun and the load took
effect in the right side. Death was almost instantaneous. According
to reports, Alfred had taken a load of feed to the home of Cordell
Speck, and they argued over unhooking the team. Speck held a baby
in his arms when he was killed. Alfred is survived by his parents,
Mr. and Mrs. John Speck, his widow, and one child. Four sisters
also survive him.

Lloyd Haile, Paul Copeland, A.B. Qualls Jr., W.H. Winningham, Mrs.
Bill Reagan, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Swallows, Mrs. P.W. Wheat, Melba Wheat,
and O.H. Dickerson.
Gladys Wiggins visited her sister in Chattanooga last week-end.
¥ Ellise Officer, of Monterey, visited relatives and friends in
Mr. and Mrs. Roy Eastland and son spent the week-end with her parents
Herman Cooper, of Rickman, visited his sister, Mrs. G.C. Peek,
and family last week.
Mrs. Clint Lamons, of Carth-age, is visiting her parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Marvin McCormick.
Mrs. W.H. Winningham spent last week in Nashville with her daughter,
Mrs. P.W. Howard.
"Uncle" Elvin Moredock, who has been very low the past
ten days, is reported no better.
Tommiew Parrigan was in Pikeville Sunday.
