Overton County 12 Year-Olds Defeat Sparta

The Overton County 12 Year-Old All-Star Team defeated Sparta 4-3 in an area Little League Tournament game held Monday, July 2.

Overton County's Josh Carwile went the distance and struck out 10 batters along the way.

With the score 0-0 in the fifth inning, Overton County scored 4 runs to take a big lead. The big blow of the inning was Josh Carwile's 3-run triple.

In the bottom of the fifth, Sparta had two runners on base when Seth McDonald hit a drive deep to left center field. Ryan Bowman and Zack Ramsey both went for the ball and collided, hard. With face bloodied, Zack Ramsey came up with the caught ball. The runner at second was ruled out on a throw-over and appeal at second base because the runner failed to tag up before taking off. The untagged base closed the inning and killed the Sparta rally.

Overton County team members are Josh Carwile, Daniel Elder, Jordan Dulworth, Levi Holt, Ryan Bowman, Jacob Brown, Todd Smith, Zack Ramsey, Andrew Neff, John Lucas White, and Cody Winton.
