'Cats Play In Jaycees Tourney

The Livingston Academy Wildcats faced the Cumberland County Jets on Tuesday, Dec. 26 in the 2000 Livingston Jaycees Invitational Tournament.

The Jets were ready to play and took the lead early outscoring the 'Cats 23-13 in the first quarter. The second quarter was a close one.

Cumberland County barely edged LA 21-19 and led 44-32 at the half. Cumberland County wouldn't let up. They outscored LA in the third quarter 27-19. LA tried to rally in the fourth but fell short. The 'Cats outscored the Jets 20-17 in the fourth quarter. The Cumberland County Jets took home the win 88-71.

Scoring for the 'Cats was led by Andy Allred with 16 points. Also scoring in double digits for LA, Jesse Wolfram had 14 points, including two 3-pointers, and Jeff Aldridge had 12 points, including 4 free throws.

Also scoring for LA, Jamie Gurley had 5 points, including a free throw, Kyle Copeland had 5 points, including one 3-pointer, Matt Quarles, Robert Richardson, and Dustin Ferrell each had 4 points, Joseph McGill had 3 points, including one 3-pointer, and Andy Beechboard and Cody King each had 2 points.

The lead for assists was shared by Andy Beechboard, Matt Quarles and Jeff Aldridge each with 4 assists, followed by Andy Allred with 3 assists, Joseph McGill with 2 assists, and Jesse Wolfram, Robert Richard-son, Cody King, and Josh Walker each with one assist.

Rebounding was led by Jesse Wolfram with 7 rebounds. Also grabbing boards for the 'Cats, Andy Beechboard, Matt Quarles, and Jamie Gurley each had 6 rebounds, Andy Allred and Jeff Aldridge both had 3 rebounds, and Joseph McGill, Cody King, and Dustin Ferrell each had 1 rebound.

Andy Beechboard, Andy Allred, and Jeff Aldridge led steals with 4 steals each. Matt Quarles, Jesse Wolfram, Joseph McGill, and Kyle Copeland each had 2 steals, and Jamie Gurley had a steal. Andy Allred also had one blocked shot.

The Livingston Academy Wildcats then faced the Jackson County Blue Devils on Wednesday, Dec. 27. Jackson County came out strong in the first quarter and outscored the 'Cats 25-17. The second quarter was just as strong for the Blue Devils outscoring the 'Cats 14-10 and taking a 39-27 lead at the half.

Jackson County was ready to play after the half. They outscored LA 24-17 in the third quarter. The 'Cats split the scoring with Jackson County in the fourth quarter 15-15, but still couldn't recover.

Jackson County left with the win by a score of 78-59.

Scoring for Livingston Academy was led by Jamie Gurley with 18 points. Also scoring for LA, Dustin Ferrell and Andy Allred both had 8 points, Jeff Aldridge had 8 points, including 4 free throws, Jesse Wolfram also had 8, including two 3-pointers, Andy Beechboard and Matt Quarles each had 4 points, and Cody King hit a free throw.

Matt Quarles led in assists for the 'Cats with 8 assists, followed by Andy Beechboard and Andy Allred each with 2 assists, and Jeff Aldridge, Jesse Wolfram, Joseph McGill, and Kyle Copeland each with 1 assist.

Matt Quarles led steals for LA with 5 steals. Jesse Wolfram, Jamie Gurley, and Joseph McGill each had 1 steal. Also, Andy Allred and Andy Beechboard each blocked 1 shot.

The Livingston Academy Wildcats will host Jackson County on Friday, Jan. 5, and will then travel to Smith County on Tuesday, Jan. 9.

 

 

Lady 'Cats Win 3 More In Jaycees Tournament

The Livingston Academy Lady Wildcats remain undefeated. The Lady 'Cats picked up three more wins last week in the Livingston Jaycees Tournament to run their overall record to 13-0. The Lady ‘Cats have advanced to the finals, which due to the weather had to be rescheduled to a date not yet announced.

The Lady 'Cats met the Pickett County Lady Bobcats on Tuesday, Dec. 26.

The Lady 'Cats pounced early taking an 11-point lead at the end of the first quarter 23-12. LA continued to control the second quarter, outscoring the Lady Bobcats 21-7 and leading 44-19 at the half.

The Lady Bobcats couldn't catch up. LA outscored Pickett County 17-10 in the third quarter and 13-2 in the fourth quarter. LA walked away with the win by a score of 74-31.

Scoring for LA was led by Stephanie Sullivan with 17 points, including a free throw. Also scoring double digits for LA, Katrina Beechboard had 14 points, including 2 free throws, and Jenna Baltimore had 10 points, including 2 free throws and two 3-pointers.

Also scoring for the Lady 'Cats, Renee Melton and Kelly Thurman each had 8 points, Megan Thompson also had 8 points, including a free throw and one 3-pointer, Heather Walker had 3 points, including one 3-pointer, Jessica Leach and Chelsie Stover each had 2 points, and Christen Cates had 2 points, including 2 free throws.

Jenna Baltimore and Renee Melton were at the top of the assists column with 5 each. Jessica Leach had 3 assists, Katrina Beechboard and Megan Thompson each had 2, and Heather Walker and Kristen Cates both had 1.

Renee Melton led in rebounding with 6 rebounds, followed by Katrina Beechboard with 5 rebounds, Stephanie Sullivan and Danielle Thrasher each with 4 rebounds, Christen Cates and Kelly Thurman each with 3 rebounds, and Jessica Leach, Heather Walker, Megan Thompson, and Kasey Baltimore with 1 each.

Jenna Baltimore, Stephanie Sullivan, and Katrina Beech-board led in steals for LA with 3 each. Renee Melton and Heath-er Walker had 2 steals, and Jessica Leach, Megan Thompson, Kasey Baltimore, Christen Cates, Danielle Thrasher, and Kelly Thurman each had 1 steal. Also, Stephanie Sullivan, Megan Thompson, and Kelly Thurman each had 2 blocked shots. T

he Lady 'Cats then faced the Gordonsville Lady Tigers on Wednesday, Dec. 27.

LA jumped out to an early lead in the first quarter outscoring the Lady Tigers 19-15. The Lady 'Cats dominated the second quarter outscoring the Lady Tigers 22-9 in the second quarter and led 41-24 at the half.

LA continued to control the third quarter, outscoring Gordonsville 20-11. The fourth quarter was more of the same. LA outscored Gordonsville 17-15 and took home the win by a score of 78-50.

Stephanie Sullivan led scoring for the Lady 'Cats with 18 points, including 2 free throws. Also scoring in double digits, Jessica Leach had 14 points, including two 3-pointers, Jenna Baltimore had 13 points, including three 3-pointers, and Katrina Beechboard had 12 points.

Also scoring for LA, Kelly Thurman had 6 points, including 2 free throws, Heather Walker had 5 points, including one 3-pointer, Christen Cates had 4 points, and Megan Thompson, Renee Melton, and Kasey Baltimore each had 2 points.

Jessica Leach led in assists for LA with 5 assists. Jenna Baltimore and Renee Melton each had 4 assists. Stephanie Sullivan and Megan Thompson both had 2 assists, and Katrina Beechboard, Heather Walker, Kelly Thurman, and Kasey Baltimore each had 1 assist.

The lead for rebounding was shared by Jessica Leach, Katrina Beechboard, and Christen Cates, each with 5 rebounds. Stephanie Sullivan had 4 rebounds, Jenna Baltimore had 3 rebounds, Kelly Thurman had 2 rebounds, and Renee Melton and Megan Thompson each had 1 rebound.

Katrina Beechboard led in steals for the Lady 'Cats with 8 steals, followed by Jenna Baltimore and Christen Cates with 2 steals each, and Jessica Leach, Stephanie Sullivan, and Chelsie Stover all with 1 steal. Stephanie Sullivan also had 3 blocked shots, Katrina Beech-board had 2 blocked shots, and Jenna Baltimore, Megan Thompson, and Kelly Thurman each had 1 blocked shot.

The Lady 'Cats picked up their third win in the Jaycees Tournament on Thursday, Dec. 28 against the White County Warriorettes.

LA attacked early and took a 17-5 lead at the end of the first quarter. In the second quarter, the Warriorettes proved they weren't going down without a fight, they split scoring with the Lady ‘Cats 11-11, which gave LA a 28-16 lead at the half.

White County wouldn't go away, scoring was dead even 18-18 in the third quarter. The Warriorettes made a comeback in the fourth quarter outscoring the Lady 'Cats 13-9, but it wouldn't be enough. LA defeated White County 55-47.

Scoring for LA was led by Stephanie Sullivan with 18 points, including 6 free throws. Also scoring for the Lady 'Cats, Katrina Beechboard had 12 points, including 4 free throws, Jenna Baltimore had 11 points, including 5 free throws and two 3-pointers, Jessica Leach had 10 points, including 3 free throws and one 3-pointer, and Renee Melton had 4 points, including 2 free throws.

Jenna Baltimore led in assists for LA with 5 assists, followed by Jessica Leach and Renee Melton with 2 assists each, and Stephanie Sullivan and Katrina Beechboard both with one assist.

Kelly Thurman led in rebounds for the Lady 'Cats with 5 rebounds. Also, Stephanie Sullivan had 4 rebounds, Jenna Baltimore, Renee Melton, and Katrina Beechboard each had 2 rebounds, and Jessica Leach, Megan Thompson, and Christen Cates each had 1 rebound.

Stephanie Sullivan led steals for LA with 2 steals. Kelly Thurman picked up 1 steal, and Stephanie Sullivan also had 2 blocked shots.

LA will host Jackson County on Friday, Jan. 5, then the Lady 'Cats will travel to Carthage on Tuesday, Jan. 9 to face the Smith County Owlettes. The Lady Wildcats will play in the Jaycees Tournament Championship game against the Cookeville Lady Cavaliers at a date and time to be announced.
