Myrtle Irene Brown
Funeral services for Mrs. Myrtle Irene Brown, 83, of Rickman, were
conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 7, 2001, from the chapel of Harris
Chapel Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Roy Harris and Rev. Roger
Cooper officiating. Burial was in the Harris Chapel Cemetery with
Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Brown died Thursday, July 5, 2001, at Livingston Regional
Hospital. She was a housewife and a member of the Harris Chapel
Freewill Baptist Church.
Born November 13, 1917, in Overton County, she was the daughter
of the late Luther and Susie (McDonald) Eldridge. In addition to
her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Elanza Brown;
two sons, Junior Brown and Gary Brown; and three sisters, Etta Jane
Ledbetter, Linnie Bell Danner, and Hassie Swallows.
Survivors include six sons and daughters-in-law, Melvin and Golda
Brown, and Donald and Heidi Brown, all of Rickman, Billy Joe and
Janice Brown, Hanceville, AL, Ernest and Pam Brown, Mayland, Doug
and Cornetta Brown, Hanging Limb, and Danny and Joyce Brown, Brentwood;
four daughters and sons-in-law, Fannie Mae and Albert Harris, Algood,
Joyce and Beecher Brown, Monterey, Janice and Bill Burks, Hilham,
and Carol and Phil Dunn, Baxter; a daughter-in-law, Carol Brown,
Akron, OH; a brother, J.B. Eldridge, Louellen, KY; a sister, Velma
Lee Ledbetter, Livingston; 25 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren;
6 great-great grandchildren; and a special niece, Earline Dickson.
Pallbearers were Dennis Brown, Arlis Brown, David Brown, Adam Brown,
Lance Brown, Brent Brown, Rick Harris, David England, Dewayne Bumbalough,
Greg Bumba-lough, and Thomas Burks.
Gela Ann (Pedigo) Philpott
Funeral services for Mrs. Gela Ann (Pedigo) Philpott, 37, of Bardstown,
KY., and formerly of Overton County, will be conducted Thursday,
July 12, 2001, at 10:20 a.m. from the chapel of New Salem Baptist
Church in Cox's Creek, KY, with Bro. Bruce Treon officiating. Burial
will be in the New Salem Baptist Church Cemetery with Greenwell-Houghlin
Northside Funeral Home, of Bardstown, in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Philpott died Wednesday, July 4, 2001. She was a member of
the Miller's Chapel Christian Church of Alpine, a former employee
of Wilson Brothers Auto Center in Bardstown, and owner and operator,
with her husband, of Mr. Muffler #2 in Louisville, KY. She was the
daughter of Jack and Joyce (Ringley) Carr, of Alpine.
Survivors, in addition to her parents, include her husband, David
Philpott, Bardstown; three children, Nikita Pedigo, Nathan Pedigo,
and Kendra Philpott, all of Bardstown; a step-daughter, Melissa
Philpott, Brandenburg, KY; a sister, Gena Marie Livingston, Rickman;
a brother, Dallas E. Carr, Rickman; paternal grandmother, Zona Carr,
Monroe; maternal grandmother, V. Ethel Ringley, Alpine; and mother
and father-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Jay Philpott, Brandenburg.
