George O. Knight Succumbs
George Oswell Knight, age 82, died at the City Hospital in Cookeville
on Tuesday evening, May 5 at 2 o'clock, as the result of injuries
received by being struck by an automobile on Highway No. 24, in
Livingston on Friday evening, March 10. Mr. Knight was walking along
the street in East Livingston and while crossing the street was
struck by the car, although it is claimed the accident was unavoidable.
Mr. Knight was born February 14, 1850. He was married to America
Emmaline Dillon on September 27, 1870 at the residence of her father,
John H. Dillon, in then Overton County (now in Pickett). To this
union were born six children: Edward Knight, Mrs. J.W. Bensen, Rebecca
Jane Knight, who died October 23, 1898, Mrs. Geo. L. West, Mrs.
Lonnie Qualls, and Mrs. S.E. Cunningham. Burial was in Good Hope
Cemetery by the side of his wife, who preceded him to the grave
many years ago. The services at the grave were in charge of Livingston
Lodge No. 259 of which Mr. Knight was the oldest member.

Mr. and Mrs. D. Huffer visited her parents, Mr. and Mrs. B.B. Sherill,
J.H. Watkins lost his only work horse Thursday night.
Alvin Seber has been repairing his dwelling.
Mr. and Mrs. Chester Davis and children visited her parents, Mr.
and Mrs. H.D. Kerr, last Sunday.
Born to Mr. and Mrs. Clove Garrett of near Gunter, on the 15th
of April, a baby boy.
Born to Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Cope on May 4, a baby girl. She is
the first grandchild for Mr. and Mrs. Crouch and second for Mr.
and Mrs. John Cope.
Work on the road from Buford's store to the Kentucky state line
is progressing nicely under the supervision of Mr. Loftis. He expects
to reach the Cross Roads store on the money he now has. He will
then start grading the road from Cross Roads store to Willow Grove.
Archie Staggs and Vesta Sullivan were quietly married Sunday.
