Wildcats Lose Close One To DeKalb

The Livingston Academy Wildcats hosted the DeKalb County Tigers Tuesday, Dec. 12.

The Tigers took an early lead, outscoring LA 21-15 in the first quarter. The 'Cats wouldn't quit and outscored DeKalb County 14-13 in the second quarter. DeKalb led 34-29 at the half.

The Tigers started to pull away in the third, outscoring LA 17-15 and leading 51-44 at the end of the third quarter. But the 'Cats came out fighting in the fourth quarter and outscored the Tigers 22-15, which tied the game at 66-66 and forced overtime.

The overtime period was a dead heat, but DeKalb County had just enough to edge the 'Cats, outscoring them 11-9 and taking home the win 77-75.

Matt Quarles led scoring for the Wildcats with 20 points, including 3 free throws and three 3-pointers. Also racking up double digits in the scoring column for LA, Jamie Gurley scored 17 points, including two 3-pointers and a free throw, and Jeff Aldridge and Andy Allred each scored 12 points, Aldridge including 2 free throws. Jesse Wolfram contributed 9 points, from two 3-pointers and 3 free throws, Andy Beechboard scored 3, including a free throw, and Robert Richardson scored 2.

Andy Beechboard led in assists for LA with 5. He was followed by Allred, Quarles, and Wolfram with 4 each, and Gurley with 2. Andy Allred led rebounding for LA and completed a double-double with 11 rebounds. Gurley had 8 rebounds, Quarles had 5, Aldridge 4, and Wolfram had 2.

Matt Quarles led in steals for LA with 4, Andy Allred and Jesse Wolfram had 2 each, and Andy Beechboard, Jeff Aldridge, Jamie Gurley, and Robert Richardson each had 1. Jamie Gurley also blocked 2 shots.

The Livingston Acadamy Wildcats then traveled to Sparta to participate in the Sonic Shootout on Friday, Dec. 15, where LA faced the Whites Creek Cobras. The Cobras struck for an early lead in the first quarter outscoring the ‘Cats 25-9. The second quarter was more of the same, Whites Creek outscored LA 23-14 and led LA 48-23 at the half.

The Cobras continued to strike in the third quarter outscoring LA 21-12. The 'Cats could not recover. The Cobras outscored the ‘Cats 29-16 in the fourth and took home the win by a score of 98-51.

Scoring for LA was led by Jeff Aldridge with 16 points, including a free throw and a 3-pointer. Also scoring for LA, Matt Quarles had 9 points, including a free throw, Andy Allred had 7 points, including 3 free throws, Jesse Wolfram also had 7 points, including a 3-pointer, Jamie Gurley hit 4 free throws, Robert Richardson had 3 points, including a free throw, Cody King also had 3 points, including a free throw, and Dustin Ferrell hit 2 free throws.

Matt Quarles led the ‘Cats in assists with 4. Beechboard had 3 assists, Aldridge and Wolfram each had 2, and Allred and Richardson each had 1.

Jeff Aldridge and Jesse Wolfram led in rebounding for LA with 6 each. Beechboard had 3 rebounds, Quarles and Ferrell each had 2, and Allred, Gurley, and King each had 1.

Aldridge, Gurley, Beechboard, Quarles, and Ferrell each had a steal. Also, Matt Quarles and Dustin Ferrell each had blocked a shot.

The LA Wildcats then faced Todd Central Kentucky in the Sonic Shootout on Saturday, Dec. 16.

The first quarter was a close one, Todd Central outscored LA 21-19. The second quarter was a draw, LA and Todd Central split the scoring at 16-16.

Todd Central led 37-35 at the half. Todd Central came out strong in the third outscoring LA 16-12. The 'Cats just didn't have enough. Todd Central outscored LA 14-6 in the fourth and took the win by a score of 67-53.

Andy Allred led scoring for LA with 13 points, including a free throw. Also scoring in double digits for LA, Jeff Aldridge and Jamie Gurley each had 12 points.

Also scoring for LA, Andy Beechboard had 8 points, including 4 free throws, Matt Quarles had 4 points, and Jesse Wolfram and Robert Richardson each had 2 points.

Matt Quarles led in assists for the 'Cats with 7. Allred followed with 4, next, was Gurley with 3, and Beechboard and Aldridge with 2 each.

Rebounding was led by Andy Beechboard and Jesse Wolfram with 5 each. Allred, Aldridge, and Gurley each had 4, Richardson had 3, and Quarles had 1.

Jamie Gurley led in steals for the 'Cats with 4. Allred and Wolfram each had 3, Quarles had 2, and Beechboard had 1. Jamie Gurley also blocked 2 shots and Andy Allred had a block.

The Livingston Academy Wildcats will host and compete in the Livingston Jaycees Tournament December 26-30. LA will face Cumberland County on Tuesday, Dec. 26 at 7 p.m. LA will then play Jackson County on Wednesday, Dec. 27 at 7 p.m.

Lady Wildcats Push Season Record To 10-0

The Livingston Academy Lady Wildcats continued their winning streak with three wins last week, to run their overall record to 10-0.

The Lady 'Cats hosted the DeKalb County Lady Tigers on Tuesday, Dec. 12.

Livingston Academy took an early lead, outscoring DeKalb County 23-2 in the first quarter. The second quarter was more of the same as LA outscored DeKalb County 26-2 for a 49-4 lead at the half.

LA never looked back. The Lady 'Cats outscored DeKalb County 21-4 in the third quarter, and continued to pounce in the fourth quarter, outscoring DeKalb County 23-11, to whip the Lady Tigers 93-19.

Scoring for LA was led by Jenna Baltimore with 19 points, including 2 free throws and five 3-pointers.

Also scoring in double digits for LA, Megan Thompson had 16 points, including four 3-pointers, Katrina Beechboard had 13 points, including a free throw, Kelly Thurman had 10 points, including 2 free throws, and Stephanie Sullivan also had 10 points. Also scoring for the Lady 'Cats, Christen Cates had 7 points, including 3 free throws, Jessica Leach had 6 points, including two 3-pointers, Heather Walker had 5 points, including a 3-pointer, Chelsie Stover had 4 points, and Danielle Thrasher had 3 points, including a 3-pointer.

Jessica Leach led in the assist column for LA. She racked up a total of 6 assists. Followed by Jenna Baltimore with 4, Kelly Thurman and Christen Cates with 3, Stephanie Sullivan, Megan Thompson, and Heather Walker with 2, and Renee Melton, Katrina Beechboard, and Kasey Baltimore with 1 each.

Katrina Beechboard and Kelly Thurman led in rebounding for the Lady ‘Cats with 5 each. Jessica Leach and Renee Melton each had 4, Christen Cates and Stephanie Sullivan each had 3, and Megan Thompson, Heather Walker, and Chelsie Stover each had 2.

Heather Walker led in steals for LA with 6, followed by Megan Thompson with 5, Katrina Beechboard with 4, Jessica Leach, Stephanie Sullivan, Renee Melton, and Christen Cates with 2, and Jenna Baltimore, Kelly Thurman, and Chelsie Stover with 1. Katrina Beechboard blocked a shot.

The LA Lady Wildcats then traveled to Sparta to compete in the Sonic Shootout, where they faced the Whites Creek Cobras on Friday, Dec. 15.

LA took an early lead in the first quarter, 17-6. The Lady 'Cats continued to dominate in the second quarter, outscoring the Cobras 22-12, and led 39-18 at the half.

LA never lost the lead. They outscored Whites Creek 16-12 in the third quarter and 15-9 in the fourth. LA went home with a 70-39 win.

Jenna Baltimore and Megan Thompson led scoring for the Lady ‘Cats with 12 points each, Baltimore with two 3-pointers.

Also scoring for LA, Stephanie Sullivan had 10 points, including 2 free throws, Jessica Leach had 9 points, including a free throw, Heather Walker had 8 points, including two 3-pointers, Katrina Beechboard had 7 points, including a free throw, Christen Cates had 6 points, Kelly Thurman had 4 points, and Renee Melton had 2 points.

Jenna Baltimore and Heather Walker led in assists for LA with 4 each. Leach and Thompson each had 3, and Melton, Beechboard, and Thurman each had 2.

Rebounding was led by Megan Thompson with 8, followed by Beechboard with 6, Sullivan with 5, Leach and Kasey Baltimore with 4, and Jenna Baltimore, Melton, Walker, Cates, and Thurman each with 3.

Steals were led by Jenna Baltimore and Kelly Thurman with 2 each. Leach, Walker, Cates, and Kasey Baltimore each had a steal. Stephanie Sullivan also blocked 3 shots, and Katrina Beechboard blocked a shot.

The Lady 'Cats then faced the Millington Lady Trojans on Saturday, Dec. 16. The Lady ‘Cats took the early lead, outscoring the Lady Trojans 22-14 in the first quarter. The second quarter was a defensive struggle with LA outscoring Millington 6-5.

The Lady 'Cats led 28-19 at the half. The Lady 'Cats continued to overpower the Lady Trojans in the third quarter, outscoring them 15-6. The Lady Trojans could not recover. LA outscored Millington 17-12 in the fourth quarter and went home with the win by a score of 60-37.

Stephanie Sullivan led scoring for the Lady 'Cats with 18 points. Also racking up double digits for LA, Renee Melton had 14 points, including 2 free throws, and Jessica Leach had 10 points, including two 3-pointers.

Also scoring for LA, Jenna Baltimore had 5 points, including a free throw, Katrina Beechboard had 4 points, Megan Thompson had 4 points, including 2 free throws, Kelly Thurman also had 4 points, including 2 free throws, and Kristen Cates hit a free throw.

Jenna Baltimore led in assists for LA with 7. Leach, Melton, and Thompson each had 3 assists, Sullivan had 2, and Thurman and Walker had 1 each.

Stephanie Sullivan led rebounding for the Lady 'Cats with 11, followed by Megan Thompson with 10, Beechboard 7, Melton 6, Leach 5, Jenna Baltimore 3, and Cates and Thurman 1 each.

Jenna Baltimore led in steals with 4. Leach had 3 steals, Sullivan had 2, and Melton, Beechboard, and Walker each had 1. Stephanie Sullivan blocked 3 shots, Jenna Baltimore had 2 blocks, and Beechboard had a block.

Livingston Academy will host the Livingston Jaycees Tournament on December 26-30. The Lady ‘Cats will face Pickett County Lady Bobcats on Tuesday, Dec. 26 at 8:30 p.m. Next, the Lady 'Cats will face Gordonsville Lady Tigers on Wednesday, Dec. 27 at 5:30 p.m., and Sparta's Warriorettes on Thursday Dec. 28 at 5:30 p.m.
