Petry Competes In
International Run

Heather Petry, front left, a junior at Livingston Academy and a
member of the cross country team, participates in the International
Sports Run Down Under. She participated as a member of the Tennessee-Kentucky
team, one of only 4 runners selected from Tennessee along with 12
from Kentucky. She competed against runners from Australia, New
Zealand, Canada, and every state in the U.S. The races consisted
of 4 1/2 mile runs with five hurdles in each race. Petry competed
in three separate races and placed first in Tennessee, 21st in the
U.S.A., and 31st in the world. She plans to continue running for
LA, and because of her success in Australia, now has her sights
set on the 2004 Olympics. She expressed appreciation to all the
sponsors who helped her make this rare opportunity possible.
Heather Petry received a gold medal for her efforts in the International
