Two Local TTU Students Honored

Two Local TTU Students Honored Two local student-athletes at Tennessee Technological University recently received academic honors from the Ohio Valley Conference.

Misty Garrett and Grant Swallows were named to the OVC CommissionerŐs Honor Roll for 1999-2000. Student-athletes named to the honor roll have maintained grade averages of 3.25 or higher for the entire year.

Juniors Scramble Held At Hidden Valley

The team of Nathan Dale, Micah Smith, Luke Mason, and Dustin Mitchell won the July 24 scramble tournament for juniors at Hidden Valley Country Club. The first and second place teams each shot a 5 under par 31 for nine holes. The team won the play-off.

The team of Justin Monday, Wilson Cates, Brett Bernstein, William Matheny, and Clint West took the runner-up spot in the recent junior scramble. The team shot a 5 under par 31 for a tie for nine holes, but lost in the play-off. The next tournament will be a junior invitational on Monday, Aug. 7 beginning at 8 a.m. For more information call 823-1313.

Pass, Punt, Kick Contest Set At LA


The LA Quarterback Club will hold a Pass, Punt, and Kick Contest at the Livingston Academy football field Saturday, Aug. 12.

Registration will be held at 2 p.m. with the contest beginning at 3 p.m. No registrations will be accepted after 2:50 p.m. No entry fee will be charged.

The age brackets are 7 to 8, 9 to 10, 11 to 12, 13 to 14, 15 to 16, and 17 to 18.

Admission will be $2 for adults, $1 for those ages 7 to 17, and free admission for children ages 6 and under.

A cook-out will be held at 6 p.m. for members of the Wildcat football team and their parents, following the contest.

The Quarterback Club will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 7 at the Livingston Academy football field. Everyone is invited to attend.
