Parade Set For Saturday

The 2000 Christmas Parade will be held Saturday, Dec.
2 at 3:30 p.m. The parade will begin at the intersection of Highway
42 and Highway 294 near Livingston Limestone, continue on 294 to
the intersection of Highway 52 (East Main Street) and continue on
to Broad Street, passing across the square and turning onto Oak
Street, ending at the intersection of Oak and First streets just
beyond Livingston Regional Hospital. Line-up will begin at 1:30
p.m. on the Bradford-Hicks bypass (Highway 42) from the intersection
of Highway 294 back toward the Tennessee Technology Center at Livingston.

Murder
Suspects Arrested In Overton County
Two murder suspects were arrested in Overton County
around 4 p.m. Friday, Nov. 24.
Overton County Sheriff Kelly Hull had felony murder
warrants from Morgan County and served them on Vanessa Baston, 40,
and Darrell Ray Dixon, 35, of Jamestown Highway. The two are charged
with the murder of an 86 year-old man who was strangled at his residence
in Morgan County on Sunday, Nov. 19. The apparent motive was theft
and robbery.
Arresting officers were Sheriff Hull, Deputy Will
Barbee, and Jail Administrator Donnie Matheney. Agencies involved
in the arrest along with the Overton County SheriffÕs Dept. were
Morgan County Sheriff's Dept., Fentress County SheriffÕs Dept.,
and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.
Morgan County took custody of Baston and Dixon around
5:30 p.m. Friday, and transported them to Morgan County Jail.
Two other persons were also allegedly involved in
the murder and have been charged with felony murder. They are also
in Morgan County Jail.

Gainesboro
Man Dies In Overton County Wreck
A 49 year-old Gainesboro man died in a one-vehicle wreck on Tuesday,
Nov. 21.
According to reports, Danny L. Smithson was driving a 1988 Ford
Bronco west on Allens Chapel Road around 5:30 p.m. when the vehicle
left the road on the right shoulder and he apparently overcorrected
and lost control. The Bronco crossed the center line, ran into a
ditch, and overturned.
THP Sgt. Jimmy Beaty investigated the fatal wreck.
