Day Observed

Memorial Day services, honoring members of the armed
forces killed in war, were held on the courtyard of the Overton
County Courthouse in Livingston beginning at 10 a.m. Monday, May
29. Welcoming speaker Bobbie Speck joins in as Sarah Jane Maynord,
Brenna Wolfram, and Alex Wolfram lead the Pledge of Allegiance.

Clay
County Man's Report Alleged False
A Clay County man has been arrested for filing a
false report in a case that led to the injury of an Overton County
deputy.
According to a report in the Citizen-Statesman, Billy
Junior Ward, 35, of Charlie Melton Road, Allons, was charged with
making a false report after an investigation by the Clay County
SheriffÕs Department determined the report of a neighbor shooting
at houses was false. A neighbor admitted to shooting target practice,
but denied shooting at any houses. Other neighbors reportedly told
Clay County deputies the report was false.
Overton County Deputy Ryan Allred was flown to Erlanger
Hospital in Chattanooga after his patrol car slid off the road and
wrapped around a tree around 4 p.m. Saturday, May 20. Dep. Allred
was on his way to assist the Clay County SheriffÕs Department on
the call that is now called a false report. Dep. Allred was released
from the hospital on Tuesday, May 23 and is recovering from the
effects of a concussion.
