Caution Advised

The Overton County Sheriff's Department, using Litter
Grant Funds from the State of Tennessee, is now using prisoners
from the jail to help clean up Overton County roads. Overton County
Sheriff Kelly Hull and his staff ask Overton County residents to
cooperate with this program by driving carefully when they see the
"CAUTION" sign on the transportation van used by the prisoners.

Sparta Man Found
Dead In Livingston

Sparta Man Found Dead In Livingston A Sparta man was found dead
at a Livingston residence on Wednesday, April 5.
The Livingston Police Department received a report around 3 p.m.
last Wednesday of a death at the Hillview Drive residence of Penny
Kirby and Donnie Bilbrey. Upon arrival, officers found the body
of a white male, later identified as Ronald W. Hill, 29, of Van
Elrod Road, Sparta. The residents of the home reported they attempted
to wake Hill and discovered he had died.
The case is being investigated by agents of the Tennessee Bureau
of Investigation and officers with the Livingston Police Department.
The cause of death is pending autopsy reports.

Indiana Man Killed
In ATV Wreck

An Indiana man died after the 4-wheeler he was riding wrecked around
2 a.m. April 1.
According to reports, Joel R. Kohr, 27, of Huntington, IN, was
driving a 1999 Polaris all-terrain vehicle north on Cedar Chapel
Road when he apparently lost control of the ATV. The 4-wheeler left
the road and struck a tree, throwing Kohr from the ATV. He was not
wearing a helmet.

Bill Linder Announces
Candidacy
Bill Linder has informed the NEWS he plans to run for election
to the office of Alderman in Ward I in the upcoming June 7 Municipal
Election. His statement is as follows:
"I, Bill Linder, announce my candidacy for Alderman representing
Ward I in the upcoming Municipal Election.
"I am married to Joyce Adams. We have one son, Josh, and
a daughter-in-law, Alicia. Josh is a senior at Livingston Academy
and is employed at Volunteer Foam. Alicia is currently in her second
year of nursing at Tennessee Tech.
"I was born in Overton County and have lived here most of
my life. I am employed with Volunteer Foam, where I have been for
14 years I am the plant manager. I really enjoy working with the
public.
"I would like to take this opportunity to ask the residents
in Ward I for your support, your influence, and most of all your
vote on June 7, 2000."
